Heber Valley

Heber Valley is located in Wasatch County, between the Wasatch and Uinta Mountains. Its backcountry wilderness location makes it an ideal destination year round. Once known primarily as a dairy and mining community, the Heber Valley atmosphere is rural. Nevertheless, it offers easy access to the urban cultural centers of Utah. Heber is found only 20 miles south of Park City, or 50 miles southeast of Salt Lake City.

The simple beauty of the snow peaked mountains and rich agricultural land has earned Heber Valley the title "Switzerland of America." From the pristine mountains, to shopping, to the quiet streams, visitors can easily find relaxation and adventure.

The Heber Valley is home to Soldier Hollow-a 16-mile world-class trail system for cross country skiing and snowshoeing enthusiasts. In 2002, Soldier Hollow will host the Nordic skiing component of the Olympics. After the snow melts, the scenic region transforms into a popular area for backpackers.

Other popular Heber-based activities include snowmobiling, trolling and fly-fishing, a ride on the historic Heber Valley Railroad, golfing, and mountain biking. Annual events include horse shows, cutter races, rodeos, antique auto shows, and experimental aircraft fly-in. The city of Midway celebrates annual "Swiss Days" with races, parades, food, and a flower show.
