Capitol Reef Scenic Byway

A lonely remnant of Caineville serves as a reminder that this rugged area near Capitol Reef National Park. It is one of hte last places in the state to be settled. Capitol Reef, the newest of the five national parks, is in south central Utah. U-24 from Loa through Hanksville to I-70

This route, through the heart of Capitol Reef National Park, also leads to the Fishlake National Forest, Goblin Valley State Park, the Sprawling San Rafael Swell and the most remote area of Canyonlands National Park

This highway meanders southeast from the I-70/US-89 junction south of Salina to Hanksville and then north to I-70 west of Green River

This 162-mile journey takes about 4 hours.
