Destination Central Utah

The Central Utah region is a goldmine of Utah heritage and outdoor recreation. Visitors here will find historic Bed & Breakfast inns located in picturesque small communities. US Highway 89, dubbed the Heritage Highway, and the popular Paiute and Arapeen off-highway trail systems are located here.

Sportsmen will find a variety of streams, lakes and reservoirs, along with state parks and public lands for family recreation.

This area includes Interstate Highway 15 and US Highway 89, two major north-south arteries connecting Salt Lake City and the Wasatch Front with the national park country of southern Utah, and with Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

Heritage Highway
The Utah Heritage Highway runs parallel to Interstate 15 from Fairview to Kanab along U.S. Highway 89. The antique shops, inns, historic sites, traditional celebrations, local foods and heritage tours along the route are sure to excite the traveler interested in local history and culture.

Great Basin National Park - Nevada
Great Basin National Park has a unique and beautiful hydraulic ecosystem. The Great Basin region covers over 200,000 squares miles, extending in the east to Utah's Wasatch Mountains.

Little Sahara Rec. Area
A wall of sand climbing nearly 700 feet high provides the ultimate challenge to rider and machine. This is the prime-time focal point for hill climbing.

Snowmobile
With more than 80 trails transversing across the Manti-LaSal National Forest, the Central Utah destination offers a complex of various trails with varied terrain with limitless opportunities.

Snowkite
The Skyline Drive is one of the best spots on earth for the new extreme sport of snowkiting. Grab the rope and let the kite pull you up and down hills. With kite power, skiers and boarders can make jumps of up to 100 feet.

Raft
Raft on the Sevier River, which flows through scenic Marysvale. This is great family adventure.

Paiute and Arapeen ATV Trail Systems
These popular ATV and off-road systems offer hundreds of miles of trails that loop over mountain ranges and plunge down into rugged canyons. The trails may be accessed at many points, including at the junction of Interstate Highways 15 and 70.

Rock Climb Maple Canyon
Climbers come from around the world to challenge the unique cobblestone cliffs found in this scenic canyon.

Golf
Central Utah is home to several excellent golf courses. You can golf on a state park, at courses found off the beaten path, or with the pros. Courses include: Canyon Breeze, Canyon Hills, Cove View, Palisade State Park, and Sunset View.

Rock Hounding/ Fossils
Utah is known as the Rock Hounding Capital of the United States! Destinations throughout Central Utah provide the most diverse and unique rock hounding sites in the state. Popular finds include trilobites, gem quality topaz, and red beryl.

Territorial Statehouse State Park
Utah's oldest existing governmental building is the Territorial Statehouse in Fillmore. In anticipation of Utah's statehood, Brigham Young directed construction of the building as the state's capitol, putting it in Fillmore where it would be centrally located.

Cove Fort
Built in 1867 as a way station for people traveling through central Utah, Cove Fort provided safety, shelter, water, and livestock feed. Today, visitors can tour the restored fort and discover the experiences of early pioneers and travelers.

Yuba Lake State Park
Yuba's warm waters and comfortable beaches attract tourists and locals alike. Activities include boating, swimming, water skiing, picnicking and fishing for walleye and yellow perch.

Snow College
Open since 1888, this two year state-run liberal arts college now has two campuses in Central Utah, one in Ephraim and one in Richfield. Proud of its small size, the school offers personal attention in some of the smallest classes available in higher education. In a rural location, Snow offers academic, athletic and student organizations that compete on the worldwide scene.

Bed & Breakfast Escapes

Historic Marysvale
Located in the heart of Central Utah is the quaint old mining town of Marysvale. It's the perfect off-the-beaten-path destination. Fishlake and Manti-La Sal national forests
Combining aspen forests, scenic byways, lakes and a variety of hiking and nature trails, this forest is also home to the 250-plus-mile Paiute ATV Trail. Fish Lake itself is very scenic and offers great fishing. Contact: 435-836-2811.

The famous Rocky Mountain ATV Jamboree is held every September, headquartered in Richfield. The National ATV Jamboree is held every June, headquartered in Fillmore. Both offer outstanding rides through scenic Central Utah.
