Westminster Holds Open Auditions for Classical Greek Theatre Fes

Westminster College will hold open auditions for the Classical Greek Theatre Festivalís Production of Oedipus the King by Sophocles, April 8-9, 2013, at 6:00 p.m. in the Dumke Student Theatre in the Emma Eccles Jones Conservatory.
On April 8th, performers will audition with 16 bars of a song of their choice (a cappella), a monologue of their choice from a Greek play (no longer than two minutes), a group singing session and a group movement session. Call
backs, by invitation only, will be held April 9th. Performers should bring a
current photo, resume, references for theatre work and movement clothing.
Rehearsals for Oedipus the King will begin August 5th. The production dates are Sept. 6th at Westminster College, Sept. 14th at Zion National Park, Sept. 21-22 and 28-29 at Red Butte Garden and Sept. 23rd at Brigham Young University.
Oedipus the King is a classic who-done-it, murder mystery. Oedipus, King of Thebes, must solve the murder of the former king, Laius, in order to lift the plague ravaging Thebes. It is a tale of conspiracy, murder and prophecy, and is regarded as one of the finest Greek tragedies.
