Follow the Great White Shark With OCEARCH and Chris Fischer
July 10, 6:00 pm
Join Chris Fischer, founding chairman and expedition leader of OCEARCH, at Swaner EcoCenter as he tells us more about his efforts to track and record the great white shark. OSEARCH is a non-profit organization with a global reach that focuses on research of the ocean's giants, primarily great white sharks. Chris will be talking about OCEARCH, his ocean expeditions, and the unprecedented data they have collected.
Fishcer's OCEARCH team has been able to uncover breeding areas, feeding areas, migratory corridors, and birthing sites of the great white shark, a vulnerable apex species. Through OCEARCH, Fisher and his team work with heads of state, lawmakers, policymakers, and other conservation organizations to ensure a robust future for sharks based on data collected during expeditions. The Global Shark Tracker, OCEARCH's most powerful outreach tool, enables engagement of students and the public and a curriculum built around the tracker is scheduled for a fall 2013 release. You can read more about Chris Fischer and OCEARCH at www.ocearch.org.
The cost to attend this talk is $5 per person or free for members. Please RSVP to 435-649-1767 or e-mail us firstname.lastname@example.org.
