Guided Tours at the Bison Corrals from 9 am to 4 pm. You'll stand within an arms-length of these incredible animals. The animals are directed into long chutes, then one at a time, they enter pens where they are innoculated, blood is drawn, females are checked for pregnancy, and their fate is determined by the park's biologists. The herd is culled down to 500, meaning 250 will be sorted and sold (within 2 weeks of the process) to other herd managers, ranchers, or feed lots.
Bring your family or your school group for a great field trip opportunity to see bison up close as they receive their annual checkups. Learn about the bison herd, how and why they are rounded up, and other fun facts. If you're coming as a family, you're welcome at any time. To make a formal reservation for a larger group, please email the park's naturalist email@example.com.
After letting the Bison rest from being rounded up, now itís time to put them through their annual check-ups. These checks will help ensure the health of the herd and help wildlife managers determine which will be sold and which will stay on the Island.
