|Natural Bridges Horsecollar Overlook
Length: .6 miles round trip
Description: The Horsecollar Ruin is a well-preserved ancestral Puebloan (Anasazi) complex, and is a major attraction in Natural Bridges National Monument.
The short, mostly level trail leads over the mesa top to the edge of White Canyon, to an overlook where you get an impressive view of the ruin.
From the overlook you can see the remains of a cliff dwelling in a large alcove near the bottom of the canyon. Two granaries with uniquely shaped doors give this ruin its name. To the left of the granaries is a kiva, the community’s ceremonial and meeting room.
It is possible to hike down into the canyon and see the ruins up close, by doing the loop from Sipapu Bridge to Kachina Bridge. The ruin is on a shelf above the canyon floor and you've got to pay attention or you will walk right past and never see it is there.
