Grand Canyon Biking
Bikers will find adventure and beauty on the incredible red desert slickrock of Grand Canyon National Park. The desert environment is a surprisingly rich oasis, with cottonwood trees, ferns, prickly pear cactus, and many other flowering plants.
Singletrack and doubletrack terrain with excellent views of the Grand Canyon is available near the north rim of the park. Bicycles are prohibited on all park trails. However, mountain bikers are permitted on all park paved and unpaved roads that are open to automobile traffic. Popular trails include nearby fire roads and forest roads.
Many excellent guides are available for riders. Their services often include an accompanying van, cooked meals, and all necessary equipment - in addition to the expert knowledge and folklore a guide can provide.
Bicyclists planning an unguided trip should plan to bring their own bikes, or rent them in Kanab, Utah. Bikes are not yet available for rent in the park.
