Enjoy Great Spring Skiing
The snow keeps falling on Utah's ski resorts. As I write this, a huge storm has recently ended and another is moving toward Utah. Solitude picked up a whopping 35 inches of new snow during the past week. Snowbasin now has an incredible 137-inch base. All of our resorts have excellent conditions, with more than enough snow to ensure great skiing through the end of the season.
With the big Presidents' Day weekend behind us, we are now looking toward spring. But winter lingers in the mountains and enthusiasts will take advantage of every possible ski day. Crowds will now start to thin at the resorts. Over time, with the warming weather, snow conditions will start to deteriorate. That's normal, it happens everywhere. But what you lose in snow quality you gain in comfort. Before long, people will be skiing in shorts. Some will ski in swimsuits before the season ends.
All of our resorts will be open through Easter Sunday (April 12). Some may extend their seasons well beyond that date, if this stormy weather pattern holds. In recent years Snowbird has stayed open almost forever, offering skiing through Memorial Day weekend.
Spring brings many discounts and special packages, allowing you to save on lift tickets, lodging, equipment rental, meals etc. Deer Valley Lodging is offering 25% off lodging & lift tickets, plus you can get free lodging for a night and free lift tickets. Those are impressive discounts, at the resort that is consistently ranked number 1 in America. Read the details.
The Canyons Resort turns spring into a party, with its annual Spring Gruv (which runs March 27-April 5). There will be contests, concerts, food and many other activities, including the popular Pond Skimming Contest where skiers and boarders try to cross 100 feet of open water while wearing all kinds of outrageous costumes.
Spring is a great time to ski Utah resorts. Come join the party.
St George Golf
It's already springtime in St George, in extreme southern Utah. Before long the almond trees will be in full bloom. Temperatures will be perfect during the next few weeks, not hot and not cold. You can do almost anything in St George during the spring.
Golf is the big attraction. There are 11 quality courses in the St George area - more golf holes per capita that virtually anywhere else in the country. And these are well-designed, award-winning courses.
During spring, it is easy to combine golf with other activities. Brian Head is only about 80 miles up the road, so you can ski in the morning and play a full 18 holes during the afternoon.
Hiking is great on many national park trails at this time of year. In Zion, the high country is still encumbered with snow and ice, but Zion Canyon trails are open. You'll also find great hiking along low-elevation trails in other areas of the park.
Several reservoirs near St George are popular for boating and water sports. Die-hards start to water ski and wake board during the spring. Just to say I've done it, I've snow skied during the morning and water-skied during the afternoon. Add a round of golf and you have a real multi-adventure trip.

Whether you want snow or sunshine, spring is a great time to visit Utah.
