Utah Travel Tips

Salt Lake Connect Pass
and Utah Valley Festivals

Some of my favorite local attractions are on sale right now, thanks to a special promotion put together by the Salt Lake Convention & Visitors Bureau. The program includes places like Thanksgiving Point, Hogle Zoo and Clark Planetarium. We've been frequenting these spots for years because we know we will have a great time in a family-friendly atmosphere. These are places where kids can learn about the wonders of life in an environment so fun they totally forget it is “educational.”

The Salt Lake CVB's “connect pass” is good for admission and/or special deals at the attractions listed below. To sweeten the offer, if you buy a 2-day connect pass before July 15 you will get a third day free. The CVB website has complete information about the program, along with an overview video.

Participating attractions include:

  • Clark Planetarium
  • Discovery Gateway
  • The Lion House Pantry Restaurant
  • The Living Planet Aquarium
  • Red Butte Garden
  • Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort
  • Thanksgiving Point
  • This Is The Place Heritage Park
  • Tracy Aviary
  • Utah Museum of Fine Arts
  • Utah Museum of Natural History
  • Utah Olympic Park
  • Utah's Hogle Zoo

There's something for everyone here, from interactive learning activities designed for children to heritage and cultural performances to dining and entertainment. Buy passes now to get the third day free, then you can use the passes anytime during the 2010 calendar year. (Once activated, the passes are valid for 3 consecutive days.)

Utah Valley Summer Festivals

One of the America's premier patriotic celebrations takes place in Utah Valley every summer. It is called America's Freedom Festival At Provo and it includes the popular Stadium of Fire. This year's event features entertainment by Carrie Underwood.

The festival promotes the traditional American values of family, freedom, God and country. Events include parades, a balloon fest, historical and cultural activities, patriotic celebrations and one of the biggest fireworks displays in America. Activities culminate on July 4th.

Summertime brings many other events to this area including concerts under the stars, storytelling, cultural festivals and other activities that are fun for the whole family.

Enjoy concerts under the stars at the Sundance Bluebird Café Series in an outdoor amphitheater where renowned songwriters perform their hit songs and tell the stories behind them.

Listen in as stories unfold at the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival, one of the largest such festivals in the nation. Feel the beat of the drum as you make your way to Payson for highland games, dancing and food at the Payson Scottish Festival or enjoy the Springville World Folkfest, which features the color and excitement of traditional folk dance and music from around the world.

Don't miss other fabulous Utah Valley festivals and events in the spring, autumn and winter months!
