Park City Beyond Sundance

The Sundance Film Festival will take place January 20-30, in Park City, Salt Lake City and surrounding communities. The eyes of the world will be on Park City during the festival, with plenty of buzz about films, parties and celebrities.

Popular Park City hotels book solid during the festival, but there is still plenty of lodging in the area. Some screenings sell out but there are always opportunities for people to get involved in the festival, even without advance reservations. Sundance isn’t the only show in town. There are many other reasons to visit Park City, before, during and after Sundance.

Great Skiing
Skiing is great right now, as we move into the prime weeks of the winter season. Utah has been hit by a string of huge storms and our resorts all have fabulous snow. The three Park City area resorts have a base of about 90-inches of snow, with more coming every few days. Early season conditions were extraordinary and all indicators suggest we will continue to receive generous amounts of Utah’s famous dry powder. This will be another banner ski year.

A local secret: Sundance is a great time to ski Utah resorts. Everybody expects the resorts to be busy because of all the people in town, but the slopes are often not crowded since most visitors are watching screenings, going to parties or hanging out hoping to meet a celebrity. Sundance is a great time to ski Park City.

Posh Accommodations
Park City has long been known for its ritzy accommodations. The area took a huge leap forward this year with the opening of three world-class luxury properties: the Montage Deer Valley, the St. Regis Deer Valley and the Waldorf Astoria Park City.

Park City offers a range of lodging options, from affordable to deluxe to super luxurious. There is something here for every budget.

Other Activities
Park City is a great base for many kinds of winter adventures, from family tubing to snowmobiling to cross country skiing and snowshoeing.

Nightlife
Park City offers excellent pubs, restaurants and other businesses that offer exciting nightlife. Some have received considerable acclamation and compare with popular establishments on the East and West coasts. They will be abuzz with activity during Sundance and are prime spots for celebrity watching.

Salt Lake City nightlife spots are also popular.

The St George Winter Bird Festival will be Jan 27-30 in St George and surrounding area. Escape the snow and ice and enjoy learning about and viewing birds in scenic areas.

Bryce Canyon Winter Festival will be Feb 19-21, at Ruby's Inn, Bryce Canyon and the surrounding area. It offers cross country skiing, snowshoe hikes, photography clinics, kids events and other activities, set against the splendor of Bryce Canyon National Park.
