Rice-Eccles Stadium is the University of Utah's stadium for athletic events. During the Winter Games, the stadium transformed into an incredible public stage, hosting the Olympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies. The stadium has a potential seating capacity of 56,000.

Venue History |
The Rice-Eccles Olympic Stadium on the University of Utah campus hosted the Games' Opening Ceremony on February 8, 2002, and Closing Ceremony on February 24, 2002. The stadium underwent reconstruction prior to the events, including the addition of temporary seating which raised the capacity to 56,000 spectators. |
