Provo/Utah Valley Area Fishing
The Provo River offers consistently good fly fishing in Provo Canyon, just a few minutes drive from downtown. It is perhaps the best blue-ribbon trout stream in the US that is so close to a major metropolitan area, and to a major airport.
But the Provo isn't the only game in town. The Diamond Fork River offers great trout fishing. The American Fork River, Hobble Creek, Payson Creek and Thistle Creek are also good for trout.
Deer Creek Reservoir is not far from town. Just a bit farther out you have Jordanelle and Strawberry, which offer very good flat water fishing.
Utah Lake sweeps along the west edge of town and it is often excellent for channel catfish and white bass, and good for walleye and other species.
