Salt Lake Area Nordic (Cross Country) Skiing

Two superb Nordic ski centers can be found in the Salt Lake City area; the centers provide excellent groomed tracks and also allow cross country skiing enthusiasts to enjoy all the amenities offered by world-class ski resorts.

Solitude Nordic Center
Just around the bend, hidden in the woods is Solitude's best-kept secret: The Solitude Nordic Center. Easily accessible from the Solitude Village, the Nordic Center offers nearly 20 kilometers of brilliantly prepared trails set for both classic and skating styles of Nordic skiing. Snowshoers will find an additional 10k of well-marked snowshoe trails that meander between the Nordic Center and Solitude Village.

Alta Nordic Skiing
Come up and check out the classic or skate skiing on our 5km groomed track. Later on in the season, when weather and snow conditions permit, we groom a track at mid-mountain which is accessible via Sunnyside Lift with your Nordic Pass or Track Ticket. Track tickets are only available at the Wildcat Ticket office. We have a full line of classic skate, telemark and snowshoe gear with sales of clothing, coffee, shakes and rentals. In addition, cross-country skiing is popular at Mountain Dell, 8 miles up Parley's Canyon east of Salt Lake City, in Mill Creek Canyon also east of Salt Lake City, and in many backcountry areas. Backcountry skiers need to be vigilant to avoid avalanche danger. Visit this site for current avalanche forecasts and information.
