Fall Colors Start in Northern Utah

Vivid reds and yellows are starting to appear on trees at higher elevations in northern Utah. I first noticed them yesterday as I drove Hwy 40 between Park City and Heber City. We’re right on the front end of an extravaganza of color.

Utah’s canyons and mountains will be ablaze with color during the next few weeks. Logan Canyon, the Alpine Loop, Red Canyon – these spots are always scenic, and they become incredibly beautiful during the fall.

Colors will probably peak in northern Utah during late September. Southern Utah mountain locations will follow a couple weeks later. Trees and shrubs in our lower desert canyons will display colors into November.

This page has details about some of our best drives to see the colors.

I plan to visit Logan Canyon this fall. Can someone please advise me on when the fall colors are likely to be at peak. Looking for an optimum week on the 2008 calendar.

    Thanks.
    Ken
