White Pine Trail

White Pine Trail is a local Little Cottonwood Canyon favorite, and is rightfully so with its glacially carved valley beauty: sharp ridges, alpine forests, and cold lakes. The trail is on an abandoned road, which makes it relatively easy despite the elevation gain. When you get to the switchbacks, just be grateful this ain't no "climber's trail" that cuts straight up the mountainside. And then you'll just be so utterly happy when you reach the gorgeous meadow, and, finally, the (hallelujah!) lake. The lake sits in a cirque with rock cliffs encircling it on all sides.
