Southern Utah gets a lot of love, and rightfully so. The red rock, slot canyons and beautiful buttes are nothing to sneeze at. But what about the alpine forests, mighty mountain peaks and green hue of northern Utah? You don't realize how close Salt Lake City is to the mountains until you actually come here. And if you live here, shame on you if you're not frequenting said mountains...frequently.
Midway Adventure Company has the know-how and the gear to properly acquaint you with the mountains and her countless outdoor adventure options. Here are three that we recommend:
Whether you prefer more relaxed floating or navigating serious rapids, the guides at Midway Adventure Company can float your boat (raft).
The Provo River is light on rapids, but heavy on amazing scenery. Mellow trips are offered in the morning, afternoon, or at Sunset. We recommend the mid-day trip because it's the longest, and comes with a buffet lunch halfway through.
Half-day trips on the Weber River are a bit more adventurous as they include the conquest of rapid sections like Devil's Slide and Rock Garden. A riverside buffet lunch keeps you nourished and strengthened for the excursion.
Moab's Slickrock trail may get all of the love, but that means it also gets all of the people. Northern Utah mountain biking is quietly legendary. Midway Adventure Company can outfit you for two of the finest: the Wasatch over Wasatch (WoW) and Wasatch Crest trails can be combined thanks to their shuttle service (to save you from some seriously brutal uphill climbs). Moab might have the whole enchilada, but we'll call this the smothered burrito – big, bold and stuffed with substance.
Bring your own bike or rent one from Midway Adventure Company. If you want something a bit more tame you can cruise around the shore of Deer Creek or try Park City's famous rail trail (flat and moderate).
No offense to the Utah Department of Transportation, but offroad > onroad in northern Utah. Midway Adventure Company can get you the vehicle and access to more than 100,000 acres of trails. From ATVs to side-by-side UTVs, you'll zoom, zip, climb and drop through gorgeous forests and majestic mountains. Rent a rig and set off with a trail map to begin your exploration.
