The Goblins Lair

A 3.7 mile moderately trafficked loop trail called the Goblin's Lair is located near Green River Utah. It features beautiful wild flowers, goblins, and some adventurous inclination. This hike is only recommended for experienced adventurers. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Depending on the time of day in which you enter, light may pour in through ceiling vents more than 100 feet above the chamber floor.

Once a secret gem is known only to a few, a marked trail now guides visitors to the hiker's entrance of the lair - a massive cavernous formation known as 'The Goblins Lair' is hidden away in the state parks eastern boundary. It is beyond the cliffs that form the far wall of the Valley of Goblins. Not truly a cavern, the lair is actually a beautiful slot canyon! Its entrance has been sealed by rock fall. The trail begins at the observation point and follows the Carmel Canyon loop before splitting off after 1/2 mile. Some moderate scrambling up slopes and over boulders is required.

Permits for those wishing to rappel into the Goblins Lair are available at the visitor center desk. A $2 permit fee (per group) is charged for the maintenance of the route. Caution is advised.
