Ducks may be hunted at the Utah Wildlife Resources Desert Lake Waterfowl Management Area about 15 miles south of Price on SR 10 near the Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry.

The nation's only free-roaming huntable buffalo herd resides in the Henry Mountains, reached via Hwy 95 south of Hanksville. John's Valley north of Bryce Canyon is antelope range. The Boulder Mountains north of Boulder and Escalante are elk terrain. Deer are abundant in all of the national forest blocks across the Colorado Plateau. Sage grouse are common near Escalante.

Antelope are hunted north of Cisco off I-70. The La Sal and the Abajo Mountains have long been known for excellent deer and elk hunting. Southeastern Utah is one of the few areas in the nation where limited permit hunts for desert bighorn sheep are conducted. The desert terrain north of Moab offers one of Utah's best areas for chukar.
