Grand Canyon Visitor Centers


Visitor Centers are located at both the North and South rims of the Grand Canyon. The South Rim is open year-round. The North Rim is open from approximately mid-May through mid-October.

Directions to North Rim

From the southern Utah town of Kanab, take US 89A south for 36 miles to Jacob Lake, AZ, then take AZ Highway 67 south 27 miles to the Park Entrance. From the entrance to the North Rim Lodge and Visitor Center it is an additional 17 miles. Note: Arizona State Highway 67 from Jacob Lake to the North Rim has been designated the "Kaibab Plateau-North Rim Parkway" by the National Scenic Byway Program.

Directions to South Rim

From Kanab, Utah: Take HWY 89 from Kanab past Lake Powell and Page, Arizona (74 mi). Continue on HWY 89 to Cameron, AZ (82 mi). Go west on HWY 64 to the East entrance of the Grand Canyon (15 mi). Scenic Route- Take HWY 89A south from Kanab to Jacob Lake. Continue on HWY 89 across the Colorado river to where it connects with HWY 89 (56 mi).

From Phoenix, Arizona: Take I-17 from Phoenix, AZ to Flagstaff, AZ (144 mi). Go West on I-40 at Flagstaff to HWY 64 where you go north to Tusayan, AZ or the Entrance to the South Rim (72 mi).

Transportation

There is no regularly scheduled shuttle service at the North Rim at this time. All transportation is by foot, bicycle, private or chartered vehicles. A free shuttle operates on the South Rim.

Fees

Admission to the Park (good for 7 days) is $35 per vehicle or $30 per motorcycle or $25 per person entering on foot, bicycle or part of a non-commercial group. Commercial fees vary. camping fees and permits. Check the official Grand Canyon National Park website for latest information for Backcountry camping fees and permits.

Hint: If you plan to visit multiple National Parks or National Recreation Areas during a one year period, you may want to purchase an "America the Beautiful” National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass -- Annual Pass for $80. It is available at all National Park entrances.
