Slickrock Trail - Canyonlands National Park


This trail follows a plateau finger out to vistas overlooking classic Canyonlands scenery. Bighorn sheep are sometimes seen in this area. The trail surface is mostly uneven slickrock.

TRAILHEAD

The trailhead is located near the end of the Big Springs Overlook Road in The Needles District of Canyonlands National Park.

BEGINNING OF LOOP

The middle part of the hike can be done as a loop, allowing visitors to see off both sides of the slickrock peninsula.

END OF LOOP

From the end of the loop portion, hikers can continue another 0.3 miles out to the end of the slickrock peninsula.

END OF TRAIL

The trail ends at a majestic viewpoint, with canyon views in three directions. The route is shorter if visitors elect not to hike the loop, or not to follow the trail out to the end of the peninsula.
