Snow Canyon State Park
This place would be a national park in any other state
Located in the red-rock country near St George, in southwestern Utah, this park enjoys mild winter weather and seldom receives snow. The park was named after early Utah leaders Lorenzo and Erastus Snow.
It offers some 16 miles of hiking trails, technical rock climbing, biking and horseback riding. It features a very nice campground open year-round. People also enjoy nature studies, wildlife viewing and photographic opportunities galore.
All of this is set against a stunning backdrop of towering sandstone cliffs colored red and white. A jumbled of black lava rock caps some ridges and tumbles down hillsides. Read more...

A sand dune inside the park is a popular play spot.
Nearby attractions include St George City, Sand Hollow and Quail Creek and Gunlock state parks. Zion National Park is just a short drive away. Tuacahn Theatre is just outside of the park.

Location
Located near St George, in southwestern Utah, approximately 312 miles south of Salt Lake City.
From I-15 northbound: Take exit 6 (Bluff Street). Go north on Bluff Street to the intersection with Snow Canyon Parkway. Turn left onto Snow Canyon Parkway and proceed approximately 3.5 miles, then turn right onto Snow Canyon Drive. Follow that road to the park's south entrance.
From I-15 southbound: Take exit 10 (Washington). Turn right off the ramp then take an immediate left at the light. That will put you onto Red Hills Parkway. Follow the parkway for about 5 miles while it parallels the interstate and then climbs over the Red Hill. Follow it to its intersection with Bluff Street/ SR-18. Proceed through that light and you will be on Snow Canyon Parkway. Follow it for approximately 3.5 miles and then turn right onto Snow Canyon Drive. Follow this road to the south entrance of the park.

Day use is $10 per vehicle (up to 8 people)
$5 per vehicle with a Utah senior 62+
$75 annual pass is available at the park
$35 Senior Adventure (annual) Pass
$5 per group of pedestrians/cyclists (up to 8 people)
$24 Annual Snow Canyon Pedestrian/Cyclist Pass

Camping
The small campground is located amid gorgeous scenery. It offers tent and RV sites, including some with electrical and water hookups. RVs up to 40 feet can be accommodated. Some sites are pull-through, some are back-in.
There is also a group camping area.
